Las-anod (Somaliland Monitor) – The Chairman and ruling party’s Presidential nominee Mr. Muse Behi Abdi spoke about the kind of cooperative relationship that Somaliland and Somalia can have in the future, as he defended the legitimacy of Somaliland’s decision on reclaiming its lost sovereignty.

He urged that Somaliland and Somalia as well as other African states are required to seek the greater unity while they are still independent states from each other, which is the same style used by the European Union members.

“Today the World states are working towards greater unity. European Union and African Union are examples. But the truth is that they are doing and practicing this system while each country is still independent and with its own flag. We, Somaliland need to have the same cooperative relationship with Somalia and other African states in order to establish a greater unity,” said KULMIYE Presidential Nominee Muse Behi in a time he was speaking at President Silanyo’s conference with SOOL traditional elders in Hudun.

Mr. Behi similarly added that his ruling party KULMIYE is relentlessly working for the unity of Somaliland regions and particularly that recent peace negotiation talks with SOOL community in Awr-boogays was an example of their commitment for tranquility and the harmony of their people.

“We need that our community (Somaliland) to have a one united goal. And as KULMIYE government, we made it clear that we wanted to reach the governance system through 3 pillars which are; Peace & stability, Development and Unity as have been set by our President, and we are committed to keep following that path.”

“There are few of you who questioned that we want to fragment Somalis into pieces, and that we are anti Somalis. That is not true, as there is no one who can question the Somali identity and the Islamic religion which are in everyone’s hearts. But I am reminding you that we, Somaliland unlike Somalia, were the ones, who started for the unity of greater Somalia, so let me ask you what had we gained from that merger with Somalia? The unity and the greater Somalia have been destroyed, nothing else, but only for the injustice, and the inequality done by Somalia to Somaliland.”
