“Companies that are breaking the mold are moving beyond corporate social responsibility to social innovation. These companies are the vanguard of the new paradigm. They view community needs as opportunities to develop ideas and demonstrate business technologies, to find and serve new markets, and to solve longstanding business problems.”

Mohammed Saeed Geedi is a businessman and a great philanthropist who helps the needy and contributes also to communal projects such as regional road projects, Drought support, Hospitals, Educational centers and the building of rural water reservoirs. The internet in Somaliland was limited by a lower penetration when compared to the rest of the world. Measurable parameters such as the number of ISP subscriptions, overall number of hosts, IXP-traffic and overall available bandwidth were all indicating that Somaliland is way behind the digital divide. However, as soon as Mohammed Saeed Gedi brought the Somcable project to Somaliland all such parameters have dramatically improved. Such improvement resulted reduction of business and personal communication cost and an increase in business efficiency and innovation.
Mohammed Saeed Geedi invested a considerable amount of money in Somcable technology project by daring apparent business and political risks existing in the country due to his inherent patriotism and love of the country. He would have gained higher returns if he had invested such big sum of money in other African countries where already his business operates.
Somcable Company has created employment opportunities for Somaliland youth. In addition it has made easy for those aspiring to develop IT related innovation platforms by providing world class high speed internet with a reasonable price.
Some politicians try to smear his name for the sake of only trying to get money from him in unethical and illegal means by propagating unfounded lies. Such politicians are in the payroll of foreign companies who want to damage successful Somaliland business men and woman.Neverthless Somaliland populace knows their intention and aspirations.
