Hargeisa (Somaliland Monitor) – According to Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Somaliland has worked hard on copying with the disasters resulted by the worsening drought conditions in the country during the last 6 months, and still it is asking for international support, though it keeps in its mind that the aid World will deliver too little aid when it is too late and everything including the lives of people gone to help those affected by the worst drought ever seen in Somaliland, and such that their humanitarian aid support repeatedly ends up rushing the patient to life support having missed the chance to give preventative medicine.
“Currently it becomes very necessary to unite all humanitarian aids, as people seriously affected by the droughts are pastoralists who are not in one place, but highly dispersed in many different places, as such this makes very difficult to easily and properly reach all those drought-affected,” said Parliament Deputy Speaker Bashe Mohamed Farah, who says they will do everything to insulate people from disaster, as he emphasized the extent of the current droughts and how it severely affected the people of Somaliland.
Though a lot of people have been given support, but the deputy speaker says the people who direly need further emergency aid support are far more than expected and that less than half of needed people have been reached so far, as they are tremendously dispersed in many different locations in both east and west of the country.
“Those affected by the droughts really need more support immediately, and we should all need to do much more, before it becomes too late to control the situation.
