Hargeisa, (Somaliland Monitor)- The talks between the government of Somalilamd and Khatumo state secessionist are no longer rumors but a fact.
This was ascertained by the foreign minister Dr Saad Ali Shire during an interview with our sister paper, Geeska Afrika, in which he also revealed pursuit of further negotiations with Dubai Ports World.
On the Khatumo talks Dr Saad Ali Shire said, “ As already informed the federal government of Ethiopia is hosting reconciliation talks between Somaliland and Khatumo movement” adding that negotiations shall ensue ext week in Addis Ababa.
The FM said the talks shall be initiated immediately guidelines are agreed upon by technical committees from the two sides currently in session at the host capital.
Queried on the status of the DP World contract awarded by the Somaliland government to manage and develop the port of Berbera, Dr Saad Ali Shire said that negotiations are ongoing though the Emirati firm is rearing to go.
By the time of going to press the foreign minister said to be accompanied by his presidency colleague are reportedly in the United Arab Emirates for relevant discussions with DP world officials in Dubai.
The FM who also touched on the severity engulfing eastern parts of the country said that other issues to pursued in Dubai include solicitation of relief support from the Emiratis by members of the national drought committee.
